The Art of Everyday Life
This is a series of A1 posters for an event called “Amural”, that happened in Brasov. It was an event that also contained the sub-event “visual poetry”, where cool young poets from Romania joined up and read their poems to an audience while a projector played all sorts of interesting animations.
I decided to make a poster series out of it, where I take the portraits of the 5 readers and made them into minimalist illustrations. The idea was to suggest “visual poetry” through the 3d glasses referring to the projections, overlayed on the poetry which is written out on the lenses.
Since the whole event took place behind the old walls of the Brasov citadel, in nature, and partly in a medieval tower, I decided, it would be nice to represent the poets through a series of plants. I intuitively used different vegetation, to suggest their hair style as accurately as possible. They are all pretty easy to recognize, just by showing their hair shape.
Rumour has it, that the event was quite a success, and the people had good fun. I wouldn’t know, as I had to return to Germany, for my sixth and final semester of studying right before the event started.
